s <br />Mayor Brunette declared the Executive Session open and Regular session closed. City <br />Attorney Haynes discussed pending claims against the City. Personnel matters were <br />discussed by the Council. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the Executive session closed and reopened the regular meeting. <br />Mayor Brunette called for the reading of a proposed ordinance concerning the Paris <br />Police Department. City Attorney Haynes explained the factors that brought this about <br />and read the Ordinance. <br />"AN ORDINANCE OF.THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING•THAT <br />THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, BE A14ENDED <br />BY REVISING SECTION 25 =1 OF SAID CODE, PROVIDING FOR THE COM- <br />POSITION OF THE PARIS POLICE DEPARTMENT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES <br />OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR <br />AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF MARCH 13, 1978.P° <br />was presented. <br />Councilman Malone stated there was no information as to costs which would be brought <br />about by this ordinance. <br />City Manager Greene stated he did not know this matter would be considered by the Council <br />and he had not reviewed with Chief Whitley the proposal as outlined. Therefore he had <br />not prepared any financial information. <br />Councilman Fisher made a motion to table action on the ordinance to enable. the City <br />Manager to review the situation with all concerned. Councilman Philley seconded the <br />motion which carried 7 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Joe McCollum, Director of Community Development, gave a report concerning the Community <br />Development Block Grant Application saying that a meeting is to be held with HUD, <br />officials on March 22 and that the staff should be able to present .a project program <br />.for Council consideration at the April meeting. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that 28 applications had been received for the position of <br />City Manager, 6 applicants had been interviewed and 2 had been invited back for additional <br />consideration. <br />With no further business to come before them, the meeting was adjourned. <br />JAMES M.
