r� <br />A motion was made by Councilman Wunsch, seconded by Councilman Malone to approve <br />the request. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that a request had been received from tars. June Reep, <br />Chairman of the Clean -up, Paint -up Committee of the Chamber of Commerce for free <br />sanitary landfill service for designated trucks used in that program on a Saturday <br />as yet undetermined. Councilman Wunsch speaking for Mrs. Reep stated it is an <br />annual worthwhile project and recommended approval. <br />Councilman Philley made a motion to approve the request. Councilman Wunsch seconded <br />the motion. <br />Councilman Williams made a motion to amend the motion of Mr. Philley, so as to.include <br />free service for everyone on that particular day. The motion was seconded by Council- <br />man Malone. <br />The City Attorney's advice was requested and he stated that since it affected a <br />service under an established rate ordinance all users of the landfill should be <br />treated alike. <br />The question was called for and Mr. Williams motion failed, 2 ayes, 4 nays. <br />The original motion was voted on and carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Attorney Haynes reported on and discussed a proposed ordinance which would make <br />it a class "C" misdemeanor to allow a building, decl4red dilapidated and a hazard to <br />life and property, to remain upon the property involved. He recommended that the <br />Council authorize the preparation of an ordinance to this effect for consideration <br />at the next regular meeting. <br />Mayor Brunette acknowledged receipt of this report and requested a motion to authorize <br />the preparation of the ordinance. A motion was made by Councilman Williams and <br />seconded by Councilman Fisher. The motion carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Attorney Haynes then reported on a similar proposed ordinance declaring failure <br />to remove a fire hazard to be a classified "C" misdemeanor and requested Council <br />authorization to prepare an ordinance for same. <br />A motion -was made by Councilman Williams to authorize preparation of the ordinance <br />for consideration at the next regular meeting. Councilman Wunsch seconded the <br />motion which carried 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />City Manager Greene presented a status report on the.Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. <br />rate case and requested authorization for the City of Paris to participate with <br />other Texas cities through the Texas Municipal League in the hiring of the Touche- <br />Ross Consulting firm to represent the city in this matter. He said the City of <br />Paris share of the cost to hire the consultants would be $586.02 based on $0.025 <br />per person as of the 1970 census. <br />
