1 7 1L City Manager Sweatt advised the Council of their authorization for preparation of an ordinance to establish procedure for administration of residence homestead exemption for the elderly. Ordinance No. 2205: "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY ADDING AN ARTICLE TO BE NUMBERED ARTICLE II OF CHAPTER 28; PROVIDING FOR A RESIDENCE HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION FOR THE ELDERLY,_ APPLICATION FOR EXEMPTION, DETERMINATION OF TAX ASSESSOR - COLLECTOR, LIMITATIONS OF EXEMPTION AND DETERMINA- TIVE DATE FOR EXEMPTION; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; PROVIDING FOR A SAVINGS CLAUSE AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE -OF JANUARY 1, 1975." was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Councilman Moore that the ordinance be adopted. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Brunette called for the bids received on December 4, 1974 for the renovation . of the building immediately north of the Municipal Building, and the following bids were presented: WRIGHT HARRISON- CONSTRUCTION CO. WALKER TOTAL $ 9,977.00 $701500.00 PLUS UNIT COST ITEMS 2,900.00 2,900.00 GRAND TOTAL. $12,877.00 $13,400.00 City Manager Sweatt recommended that the bid of the Wright Construction Company in the amount of $9,977.00 based on low bidder and combination, with unit cost items be approved. A resolution was presented, authorizing the city manager to enter into a contract with the Wright Construction Company for the renovation. A motion was made by Councilman King and seconded by Councilman Hutchison that the resolution be approved. Mayor Brunette called for the vote which showed-3 ayes, and 4 nays, Councilman Whitaker, Councilman Rainey, Councilman Moore, and Councilman Stone voting nay. The resolu- tion failed to pass. Resolution No. 1654, authorizing and directing the city manager to execute and file application for grant for heretofore constructed waste water facilities, such reim- bursement under Section 206 of Public Law 92 -500, was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by Councilman King that the resolution be adopted. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays.
