<br />The Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Paris on October 14, 1974,
<br />at 7:00 P. M., was called to order by Mayor J. M. Brunette, with the following
<br />Councilmen present: Doyle Whitaker, Brad Hutchison, Joe R. King, W. M. (Dub)
<br />Moore, 0. L. Rainey, Sam M. Stone. Also present were City Manager Kerry R. Sweatt,
<br />City Attorney T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk H. C. Greene.
<br />Prayer was offered by M. G. Ralson, Pastor of the Seventh Street Baptist Church.
<br />Mayor Brunette asked if there were any additions or corrections to the Minutes of
<br />the previous meetings as furnished the members of the Council. There being none, the
<br />Minutes were approved.
<br />City Attorney Haynes presented a petition for re- zoning from B. P. Denney, to re-
<br />zone Lot 7, Block 2, Stellrose Addition, from SF -2 District to Office District.
<br />Mayor Brunette referred the petition to the Planning and Zoning Commission for their
<br />study and recommendation and called for Public Hearing at the next regular council
<br />meeting.
<br />Ordinance No. 2196:
<br />"AN ORDINANCE OF THE .CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AMENDING
<br />ORDINANCE NO. 2056 OF-THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND
<br />CHANGING THE ONE -WAY STREET MAP OF SAID CITY; DELETING
<br />WEST KAUFMAN STREET AS A ONE -WAY STREET, WEST FROM ITS IN-
<br />TERSECTION WITH 19TH STREET, S. W. TO ITS INTERSECTION
<br />WITH 21ST STREET, S. W. ; DIRECTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO
<br />CHANGE THE ONE -WAY STREET MAP; PROVIDING FOR A PENALTY NOT
<br />TO EXCEED $200.00; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF
<br />ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN
<br />EFFECTIVE DATE OF NOVEMBER 1, 1974."
<br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by Councilman
<br />King that the Ordinance be adopted. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays..
<br />Ordinance No. 2197:
<br />"AN ORDINANCE CLOSING THE ALLEY, BEGINNING AT THE EAST BOUNDARY
<br />LINE OF 15TH STREET, S. E., AT THE SOUTH WEST CORNER OF LOT 1,
<br />BLOCK B, P, J. WILLIS & BROS. SUB - DIVISION, AND THE NORTH WEST .
<br />CORNER OF LOT 6, BLOCK B, P. J. WILLIS & BROS. SUB - DIVISION, BEING
<br />13 FEET WIDE AND EXTENDING IN AN EASTERLY DIRECTION 498 FEET,
<br />MORE OR LESS, TO THE WEST BOUNDARY LINE.OF 17TH STREET, S. E.
<br />AND THE SOUTH EAST CORNER OF LOT 5, BLOCK B, P. J. WILLIS &
<br />BROS. SUB - DIVISION, AND THE NORTH EAST CORNER OF LOT 10, BLOCK
<br />B, P. J. WILLIS & BROS. SUB - DIVISION, LYING ADJACENT TO THE
<br />SOUTH BOUNDARY LINES OF LOTS 1 THROUGH 5 AND ADJACENT TO THE
<br />NORTH BOUNDARY LINES OF LOTS 6 THROUGH 10, ALL IN BLOCK B OF THE
<br />P. J. WILLIS & BROS. SUB - DIVISION, RECORDED BOOK 86, PAGE 86,
<br />DEED RECORDS, LAMAR COUNTY, TEXAS, AND DECLARING NO NECESSITY
<br />OR NEED OF SAID ALLEY FOR CITY USE, AND PROVIDING FOR AN
<br />EFFECTIVE DATE OF OCTOBER 14, 197'x."
<br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Moore and seconded by Councilman
<br />Hutchison that the Ordinance be adopted. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays.
<br />Resolution No. 1635, authorizing the Mayor to execute a quit claim deed to pro-
<br />perty owners of an alley in Block B, P. J. Willis and Brothers Addition, was pre-
<br />sented. A motion was made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by Councilman Rainey
<br />that the Resolution be adopted. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays.
