r. 303 MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL April 9, 1975 A Special Meeting of the City Council was held on April 9, 1975 at 7:00 P. M. Mayor Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen present: Doyle Whitaker, Brad Hutchison, W. M. (Dub) Moore, Joe King, 0. L. Rainey. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk H. C. Greene. Mr. Roy M. Welch, representing the Paris Kiwanis Club, appeared before the Coun- cil to continue his request for use of the Market Square for the purpose of spon- sorship of a carnival by the club. Mayor Brunette advised the Council that this item had been tabled at its March 24 ,1975 meeting. Councilman King pointed out restrictions contained in city ordinances concerning use of the Market Square. Councilman Moore questioned availability of sanitation facilities at the Market Square area. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Rainey and se- conded by Councilman Whitaker to grant the request of the Paris Kiwanis Club. The motion carried: .3 ayes, 2 nays, Councilman Moore and Councilman King voting nay. Mayor Brunette called for the canvass of the returns on the regular city election held on April 1, 1975, and returns from each ward were presented. Resolution No. 1678, declaring the results of the election and declaring Dr. James M. Brunette, Mr. Joe King, and Mr. Lloyd S. Sterling elected, was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Councilman Hutchison the re- solution be adopted. The motion carried: 5 ayes, 0 nays.
