r. 303 <br />MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />April 9, 1975 <br />A Special Meeting of the City Council was held on April 9, 1975 at 7:00 P. M. <br />Mayor Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen present: <br />Doyle Whitaker, Brad Hutchison, W. M. (Dub) Moore, Joe King, 0. L. Rainey. Also <br />present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney T. K. Haynes, and City Clerk <br />H. C. Greene. <br />Mr. Roy M. Welch, representing the Paris Kiwanis Club, appeared before the Coun- <br />cil to continue his request for use of the Market Square for the purpose of spon- <br />sorship of a carnival by the club. Mayor Brunette advised the Council that this <br />item had been tabled at its March 24 ,1975 meeting. Councilman King pointed out <br />restrictions contained in city ordinances concerning use of the Market Square. <br />Councilman Moore questioned availability of sanitation facilities at the Market <br />Square area. After discussion, a motion was made by Councilman Rainey and se- <br />conded by Councilman Whitaker to grant the request of the Paris Kiwanis Club. The <br />motion carried: .3 ayes, 2 nays, Councilman Moore and Councilman King voting nay. <br />Mayor Brunette called for the canvass of the returns on the regular city election <br />held on April 1, 1975, and returns from each ward were presented. <br />Resolution No. 1678, declaring the results of the election and declaring Dr. James <br />M. Brunette, Mr. Joe King, and Mr. Lloyd S. Sterling elected, was presented. A <br />motion was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Councilman Hutchison the re- <br />solution be adopted. The motion carried: 5 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
