Ordinance No. 2292: v 754 "AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, PROVIDING THAT THE CODE OF ORDINANCES, CITY OF PARIS, PARIS,TEXAS, BE AMENDED BY REVISING SECTION 12 -1 OF SAID CODE, PROVIDING FOR THE COMPOSITION OF THE PARIS FIRE DEPARTMENT; REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE OF JULY 12, 1976." was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Stone and seconded by Councilman .1 Hinds for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. Ordinance No. 2293: "AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE EXTENSION OF CERTAIN BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND THE ANNEXATION OF CERTAIN TERRITORY CONSISTING OF 12.247 ACRES, MORE OR LESS, THAN TEN PER CENT (10 %) OF THE TERRITORY INCLUDED WITHIN ITS PRESENT CITY LIMITS, WHICH SAID TERRITORY LIES ADJACENT TO AND ADJOINS THE PRESENT BOUNDARY LIMITS OF THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS." was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Hinds and seconded by Councilman Swaim for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Brunette requested a volunteer to serve as a representative of the City of Paris on the City - School Committee. Councilman Hinds volunteered for the assign- ment. A motion was made by Councilman Williams and seconded by Councilman Swaim to appoint Councilman Hinds to the City - School Committee. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. Ordinance No. 2294: AN ORDINANCE FIXING THE TAX RATE AND THE TAX LEVY, AND LEVYING AD VALOREM TAXES FOR THE CITY OF PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, FOR THE YEAR 1976, UPON ALL TAXABLE PROPERTY WITHIN THE SAID CITY OF PARIS, TEXAS, IN CONFORMITY WITH THE CHARTER PROVISIONS AND ORDINANCES OF SAID CITY; AND REPEALING ALL ORDINANCES OR PARTS OF ORDINANCES IN CONFLICT HEREWITH." was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Hinds and seconded by Councilman Williams for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 7 ayes, 0 nays. Mayor Brunette announced that the City Council would go into executive session. Discussion was had concerning airline service. Mayor Brunette declared the execu- tive session closed and the regular session of the Council open. City Manager Sweatt advised the Council of certification of utility served areas required by the Public Utility Commission and further advised the Council that the Marvin - Jennings Water Corporation was serving customers inside the city limits of Paris. Mr. Sweatt advised the Council that if no objection were presented, the City Manager would represent the City of Paris at a hearing at the Public Utility Commission to be held in Austin, Texas, with the purpose of protecting the area served with water and sewer service by the City of Paris.
