755 <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF THE CITY COUNCIL <br />August 9, 1976 <br />The Regular Meeting of the City Council was held on August 9, 1976 at 7:00 P. M. <br />Mayor James M. Brunette called the meeting to order with the following Councilmen <br />present: George Fisher, Jr., Ben Hinds, David Philley, Freddy Swaim, and Jimmy Don <br />Stone. Also present were City Manager K. R. Sweatt, City Attorney T. K. Haynes, and <br />City Clerk H. C. Greene. <br />Prayer was offered by Reverend C. D. Hilburn. <br />Mayor Brunette asked if there were any additions or corrections to the minutes of the <br />previous meetings as furnished the members of the Council, and noted that the minutes <br />of the July 12, 1976 meeting, concerning authorization of preparation of an ordinance <br />creating a "No Parking" zone, should read "No Parking zone on 11th Street N. E." <br />rather than Pine Bluff Street. There being no further corrections, the minutes were <br />approved. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the first order of business would be consideration of <br />recommendations contained in the Planning and Zoning Commission meeting held on <br />August 2, 1976. <br />Mayor Brunette declered the public hearing open on the petition of Jack Denman to <br />change zoning from a One - Family Dwelling District No. 2 to a Commercial District, <br />Lots 9 and 10, Block 8, and Lots 3 and 4, Block 10, of the Town North Estates No. 2, <br />located on 29th Street N. E. south of Loop 286. The Planning and Zoning Commission <br />had recommended unanimously approval of the request. <br />Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear, and none appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and none appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed, and Ordinance No. 2295: <br />"AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ZONING ORDINANCE NO. 1710 OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, PARIS, TEXAS, AND CHANGING THE BOUNDARIES ESTABLISHED BY <br />THE ZONING MAP OF SAID CITY; ESTABLISHING A COMMERCIAL DISTRICT <br />(C) ON LOTS 9 AND 10, BLOCK 8, AND LOTS 3 AND 4, BLOCK 10, TOWN <br />NORTH ESTATES N0. 2, ON PROPERTY BELONGING TO JACK DENMAN, SO <br />AS TO INCLUDE THEREIN TERRITORY FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS A ONE - <br />FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT NO. 2 (SF -2); AND DESIGNATING THE <br />BOUNDARIES OF THE COMMERCIAL DISTRICT (C) SO ESTABLISHED." <br />was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Hinds and seconded by Councilman <br />Fisher for the adoption of the ordinance. The motion carried: 6 ayes, O nays.. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing on the petition of Ralph H. McAdams for <br />a change in zoning from a One - Family Dwelling District No. 3 to a Commercial District <br />on Lot 18, City Block 235 --A, located on the south side of Center Street west of 10th <br />Street N. W. <br />Mr. Jimmy McAdams appeared before the Council speaking in behalf of the petitioner, <br />stating that a trailer park was proposed for the location. <br />Councilman Williams entered the Council chamber and assumed his chair. <br />
