663 <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing open on the petition of Hector Gerardo <br />for a change in zoning from a One - Family Dwelling District #2 and Neighborhood <br />Service District to a Commercial District on Lot 10, City Block 305. The Plan- <br />ning and Zoning Commission had voted unanimously to deny the petition. <br />Mayor Brunette called for proponents to appear, and none appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette called for opponents to appear, and none appeared. <br />Mayor Brunette declared the public hearing closed. the request was denied for <br />failure of a motion. <br />City Attorney Haynes presented the following petitions for re- zoning: Luther Towers <br />from SF -2 District to Commercial District; Nathan J. Bell,.Lot A, Block 2, Lamar <br />Terrace Addition, from Single Family Residence District to General Retail District;` <br />Harrison Walker Construction Co., City Block 112 -B and 112 -C, to Planned Develop- <br />ment District; Automatic Gas Company, Lot 14, Block 170 -A to Commercial District. <br />Mayor Brunette announced that the next order of business would be consideration of.- <br />recommendations made by the Traffic Safety Commission at its meeting held on March <br />2, 1976. The Traffic Commission had recommended to post a 30 miles per hour speed <br />limit and to establish a pedestrian crossing and recommended increased speed en- <br />forcement on 7th Street N. W. adjacent to Record Park. After discussion, a motion <br />was made by Councilman Rainey and seconded by Councilman Stone to authorize the <br />establishment of a cross walk on 7th Street N. W. adjacent to Record Park. The <br />motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />On the recommendation of the Traffic Commission, a motion was made by Councilman. <br />King and seconded by Councilman Sterling to establish a "No Parking" zone on the <br />north side of Brame Street from South Main - Street to South Church Street. The mo- <br />tion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette called for a report from the committee appointed to consider the fire <br />loss claim of Mr. Bill Jones. Councilman King, Chairman of the committee, pre- <br />sented a report of the findings of the committee. A motion was made by Councilman <br />Stone and seconded by Councilman Rainey to accept the report and make it part ofsthe <br />Council minutes. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />A motion was made by Councilman King and seconded by Councilman Stone to deny all <br />claims made by Mr. Jones. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette called for a report from the committee appointed to study the peti- <br />tion requesting the purchase of the Springlake Golf Course by the City of Paris <br />Councilman Rainey stated that the committee had met and studied such things as <br />the estimated initial acquisition cost, potential funding means and preliminary <br />estimates as to expenses other than initial capital outlay. <br />Mr. Ennis Richardson appeared before the Council, requesting further consideration <br />be given to the acquisition of the Springlake Golf Course. <br />A motion was made by Councilman Whitaker and seconded by Councilman Stone to re- <br />ceive the interim report and make it a part of the Council minutes. The motion <br />carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />
