The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Mayor Brunette called for a report and recommendations from the committee appointed <br />to study the contract proposed with the Chamber of Commerce concerning the hotel - <br />motel occupancy tax. City Manager Sweatt reported that the Chamber of Corrmerce <br />had proposed a program priority and budget estimate for the calendar year 1976 which <br />showed an estimated expenditure of $32,980.89. After discussion, a motion was made <br />by Councilman King and seconded by Councilman Stone to receive the report and make it <br />part of the Council minutes. The motion carried: 6 ayes, 0 nays. <br />Resolution loo. 1743, appointing Dick Wright and Connie Justice as alternate members <br />to the Tree Preservation Committee and Marcus Roden_ and Mrs. Hoyle Barr as members - <br />at -large to serve through December 31, 1976, and Porter Smallwood, Jr., Wayne Brown,' -" <br />Ralph Beard, and Mrs. Leonard Dirks as members -at -large to serve through December <br />31, 1977, was presented. A motion was made by Councilman Sterling and seconded <br />by Councilman Stone for the adoption of the resolution. The motion carried: 6 ayes, <br />0 nays. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 1743 <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did heretofore <br />in Resolution No. 1741 establish a Tree Preservation Committee; and, - <br />WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Paris did express at <br />the time of the passing of said resolution the desire that. the initial <br />appointments to said committee be for one and two year terms in <br />order that the total committee would not come due for appointment in <br />any one year, and that thereafter all appointments be for two years; <br />and, <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Paris, James M. Brunette, <br />has appointed Dick Wright as Realtor and Connie Justice - as Alternate, <br />Marcus Roden as a Business Person and Mrs. Hoyle Barr as a <br />Member-at -Large from the Council of Garden Clubs, to serve as <br />members of said committee through December 31, 1976, and has ap- <br />pointed Porter Smallwood, Jr. as Contractor/Builder -and Wayne Brown. <br />as Alternate, Ralph Beard as a Business Person and Mrs. Leonard • <br />Dirks as a Member -at -Large from the Council of Garden Clubs, to <br />serve through December 31, 1977; NOW, THEREFORE; <br />BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />PARIS, That the Mayor's appointments to the Tree Preservation <br />Committee, be, and the same are hereby approved and confirmed by <br />the City Council of the City of Paris. <br />Passed and adopted this 8th day of March, 1976. <br />J es M.
